Flour Sack Animation

Original Video - More videos at TinyPic

Last animation assignment for the year, we had to animate a flour sack combining everything we learned in the year with action, acting, ect. I thought the flour sack was too cute to kill with the guillotine haha. Instead I decide to be a little funny and give him a tongue that he sticks out at the guillotine as if to say "haha! Missed me!"

Character Animation Cel

For painting we had to do a real animation cel like they used to do before computers, so we painted a background and the character separate from the background on a sheet of acetate. It took forever and painting and inking the cel were annoying. I had to do multiple layers on paint on the cel and had the problems of one color peeling off and me having to start over on that. The cel itself took over 5 hours! Now I see why they don't do this anymore xD But I still miss hand painted backgrounds in movies.

The cel is taped to the background. And yessss, harmonica playing cat. Because they're awesome.

Some Character Layouts

Digital Animation Puppet

Did this in Digital Tools class. It was annoying to put together, I really don't like animating on computers. The puppet, despite how simple it looks, was extremely complicated and so many things went wrong when trying to put it together.

Another painting

Did this a while ago but I haven't updated this for a while. Also it made it onto the wall as was up there for a few weeks so it took a while to get back to me. I don't like how the grass turned out at all.

Character Model Sheet

Final project for character design class. We had to do 8 poses and 8 expressions of a character we came up with...and fit it all onto one 8.5x11 page. So I was pretty much playing Tetris trying to arrange all of this haha. Okapis are cool and weird animals, so I wanted to make a character out of one. And yes, they do have long blue tongues.

Character Timeline

Forgot to post this.
We had to make a character and draw them as a baby, kid, teenager, adult, and senior. It was a lot of fun x3 I especially loved drawing the 70s hair and the 80s big hair h

Secret of NIMH Head Rotation/Lip Sync/Expression

Wow this was a fun project! A lot of work, but worth it xD Like most people I'd spend hours and hours each day in the labs for a few weeks working on this, only for 14 seconds of animation!

We had to take any animated character of our choice, rotate the head, lip sync the mouth to the word "Meow" and give the character an expression reacting to him/her saying "meow." I chose Jeremy the crow from Secret of NIMH because Don Bluth is my favorite animator and I love NIMH, and Jeremy is my favorite character from that movie. He was also fun to animate! I added extra animation with Dragon the cat at the end xD

I sorta messed up on the head rotation, I accidentally did 2 extra frames rotating in the front view, and we had to do 16 in total. So there's 2 less in the back so the front rotation goes slower than the back xD Ah well, I wouldn't have had enough time to fix the whole thing. But Michel still loves it yayy (:

So turn your volume up cause there's sound!

Character in Sequence

An assignment for character design, we had to do a sequence of a character in action. I did a sabertooth tiger who gets his teeth stuck in the ground haha. The stretchy poses were fun to draw.

Alien Environment Painting

I lost sleep over this lol.
Umm, we were supposed to come up with an alien environment. I did some space ship-y looking buildings, kinda failed on the reflection of the sky in the windows and wish I didn't do the sky so saturated. Ah well.
